A Small Sample Story

Here is a small sample story that I have recently started writing as of a few days ago. It's nothing much, I assure you, but I only hope that you readers find it interesting. Please read and enjoy!

The sheer cold was blistering, freezing everything that lie in its wake. The bare branches of trees shivered in the frostbitten breeze. Everything was quiet. Nothing made a sound except the howling winds. Snow fell from the heavens, dancing majestically as it gently pattered the petrified soil beneath it. Winter's signature quickly lay in a sheet of tundra.
Among this vast array of icy wonder a lone man crept from out of the brush with a frozen expression. His attire was neither triumphant nor sorrowful, just his armor to protect from Winter's fury. Stumbling to and fro on the white silk beneath his legs he set out through the jumble of trees around him. Winds kicked up ice crystals into his face and tore through every layer covering his body. There sub-zero winds threatened his journey, but still he plowed on.
He could not speak, and dared not to speak in fear of the cold entering from his mouth. With slow breaths and careful strides his journey went on. There was a thick covering of frost clinging to his rough beard, yet it did not bother him; his pure determination to get out of the cold pushed him forward. Every now and then he would shiver, feeling as though his soul itself would freeze down to the core...
